Frying Pan Farm Park

This weekend we visited Frying Pan Farm Park in Herndon, VA.  It's a free park run by Fairfax County.  Ava had a blast watching all of the farm animals.  I read about it in my new book Kid Trips.  If you live in the NOVA area and have kids, it's a great book to have!
Cute Kidwell Barn filled with baby animals.
Ava was especially fond of the chickens.  I was especially happy when she moved on with all of her fingers UNpecked... ;)

 Enjoying the tall wildflowers.
Almost as tall as Ava!
They have a carousel.
Wagon rides.
Place to buy treats...
 and ICE CREAM:)
 Bunnies...
 Sheep...
 Pigs...
Cows...  I remember Ava's 1st speech therapist saying that she doesn't understand exactly why it's so important that kids know how to say all of the names of farm animals (that's one of the first questions I was always asked by doctors, etc. when Ava's speech delay first showed up... "Can she name farm animals?")  Weird...
Homemade Cider, place to ride horses... It was really fun:) My goal for the summer is to visit one new place per weekend.  There are so many fun ideas in that book and I don't want to get stuck in the just go to the pool everyday routine..
